Bodyguards in Tampa, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Miami and More
If you are looking for bodyguards in Tampa, or really anywhere outside of the Hollywood/LA area, you may be aware that bodyguard is a term that is used mostly in the Hollywood area. Personal Security, Close Protection or Executive Protection is the vocational name for bodyguards.
Here are the main people or activities “bodyguards” are generally needed to protect.
Celebrities – Celebrities are well known, and sometimes they are not liked by everyone. Worse, it may not just be individuals that hate, but they may be “over-liked” by zealous fans as well.- CEO’s and Corporate Executives – They need protection from disgruntle employees, corporate layoffs, kidnapping, corporate sabotage, protesters and more.
- Concerts – Singers and bands require extensive protection services.
- VIP Events – They might not be “Hollywood Famous” but instances like industry or corporate or religious speakers and others need personal protection at events.
- Dignitaries, Politicians, Rallies, Speeches, Events – Tensions can run very high.
- Family Protection – It’s easy to understand why a nefarious individual who could not penetrate the primary target, would then set their sights on family members.
- Businesses – Art dealers, jewelers, banks, pharmacies, 24 hour stores and more hire close protection and security specialists.
- Asset Protection – People use bodyguards to protect their assets. This can be their business, their home, or their valuables.
- Estate Protection – Many private estates have millions of dollars’ worth of valuables to protect, as well as family members.
- Private Events and Private Gatherings – “Venue Protection” – It’s not just wedding crashers.
There are many reasons why you may be looking for bodyguards in Tampa, or anywhere here in Florida.
Now you may be asking “Who should I Call?”

International Protection – Sure, we love to work in Florida, it’s our backyard. So we know the lay of the land with regards to Executive Protection, Celebrity Security and Bodyguard Service in Florida. But it’s important to note that with international security projects in over 50 countries, the “global” in ESS Global Corporation is “global security” for real. If you are headed out of the country, we are prepared to keep you safe every step of the way.
Choosing The Best– Fact: ESS Global Corporation also runs a Close Protection School. ESS Global Corp is the only Protection School in the state of Florida that is licensed and approved by the Department of Education. This is a well-known fact in the security business. So the best candidates know where to go to get world-class training. And we get to see those agents every day during training, offering positions to the best of the best in each and every class, providing a consistent level of quality, awareness and skills that other security companies never attain because they never know the agent’s skill set until they are out in the field. In the Close Protection industry, that can be dangerous.
Celebrity Bodyguards– ESS has protected celebrities, athletes, public speakers and individuals from all walks of life across the US and throughout the world. So whether it’s the red carpet in Los Angeles, a venue in Las Vegas, a business meeting in Chicago, a concert in Detroit, a promotional event in Dallas, a speaking engagement in Orlando, or a photo op in Tampa, we have you covered.
In most every state, there is no oversight of the Executive Protection Industry. No licenses, no state certifications.
Now, the requirements to enter the Executive Protection industry would be much easier if it were classified under the class D License, but at the same time, what types of individuals would now, by law, qualify to do Executive Protection work?
“Which defensive tactics work best?” This is a question that defensive tactics experts and bodyguard instructors have debated and continue to debate. But, in reality, the answer is simple. I don’t care what defensive tactics or martial arts discipline you train in or feel that you have mastered, because the answer is always the same. ALL experienced executive protection agents will agree that the best defensive tactic we have as agents, that will give us the greatest chance of survival and least chance of injury to us or our clients, is AVOIDANCE.
Part of the difficulty in the bodyguard/ close protection/ executive protection industry is in most states, there are no licensing or oversights involved. In short, this means anyone can “teach” anything. Maybe even teach practices that are inherently dangerous given there is no state governance.
Over the past decade, many schools and universities have gone “online”. While we have no doubt that that is a viable option if you are taking accounting courses, it certainly doesn’t apply to Executive Protection.
In our research, Executive Protection Training 3-day courses tend to run from $350 to a high of $1500.

Plan your route in advance – stick to areas both you and your children are familiar with. Keep your head on a swivel.
Slow down and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods. Children are excited on Halloween and can move in unpredictable ways.

At some point, anyone that wants to work in EP will need to attend a credible EP School. Here at ESS Global, we’ve spoke with ex-law enforcement, security guards, ex-military and more that heartily disagree with that statement. But when they attend our EP class they are in agreement. “I never knew any of that.”
At ESS Global Corp, we are aware that there are competitors who state that they offer similar Executive Protection Training Programs. However, our Executive Protection School in the only protection training facility certified and approved by the Department of Education in the state of Florida (and one of just a handful that are D.O.E. certified across the country). This also means our trainers are approved by the D.O.E. as well.
