ASP Tactical Baton Training in Tampa Bay

The ASP Basic Certification (ABC) is a 7-hour, hands-on seminar which trains participants in the operational use of the ASP Tactical Baton. The program is simple to learn and easy to understand. It provides effective defensive impact weapon tactics for law enforcement and private security personnel, as well as responsible civilians without long hours of training. The techniques were designed to work effectively for all users, male and female, large and small, fit as well as those in less-than-peak physical condition.
The program provides portation (carrying) and presentation (drawing) procedures as well as striking techniques. These tactics are quickly learned, easily practiced and readily maintained long after the program is completed.
The ASP Tactical Baton is designed to be used as an impact weapon, not a come-along device. There are no complicated holds or complex moves.
The impact weapon techniques in all ASP Tactical Baton programs are designed to meet three standards of training:

  • The techniques work on the street, not just in the classroom.
  • The techniques are court defensible and are backed by the nation’s most experienced use-of-force consultants.
  • The program is administratively feasible for use in a contemporary private security or law enforcement agency.

Class Length:   2.5 hours classroom, 4.5 hours training and drills.

GI Bill Approved Executive Protection Training - JULY 2022

The simple fact is as we barrel towards 2023, there is no doubt that “personal protection” is a growing field. As you read this, there are thousands and thousands of military and government leaders, business executives, religious figures, celebrities and families that are being personally protected.

And the numbers grow every day.

Meanwhile,

Today’s Protective Agent is usually found in a business suit, presenting a discreet and subdued image.  They are seen, but not noticed, as they try to maintain a low profile.  They are fit, but usually of normal build or stature.  This helps them blend into the background of their client’s business and activities without drawing any undue attention.

They are highly trained and highly skilled professionals.  There are some excellent agents that do look like the stereotype, but they have the intelligence to match the stature, and that makes them a true professional.

Combat Pistol Training in Tampa

Combat Pistol Training in Tampa May 18-19  – Don’t neglect real world training for real world situations that can (and do) occur.

Combat Pistol Training in Tampa May 18-19

What is the value of training at an indoor range when you can’t draw from your holster and shoot multiple targets? (that’s OK, home intruders never come in groups of 2-3 or more, right?)
What is the value of training at an outdoor range where you can’t shoot from cover or even a prone position? Or even shooting while moving and seeking cover?
Oh wait….those are realistic scenarios.
If your pistol comes out when you are not at the range, it’s likely serious and it’s very likely it’s all happening at once and you aren’t prepared because you haven’t trained for the clear and present danger at hand.

But now you can.

Combat Pistol Training in Tampa MAY
If you have purchased a handgun for self defense, learn how to use it to defend yourself.
Become proficient in defensive use of the pistol for a wide variety of circumstances, from home defense, concealed carry techniques, pistol defense in a vehicle, shooting on the run, facial recognition, ambush scenarios, body armor drills, malfunction drills and much more.
Unlike shooting at the shooting range, you move. You run. You shoot while moving.
All while shooting as the training progresses quickly into an emphasis on applying more advanced techniques under more difficult real-life situations.
Combat Pistol Training in Tampa MAY
This class will prepare you for real world confrontations and is ideal for anyone who has completed a CWP class, G License Training, or our Basic Pistol Class and wishes to learn how to effectively deploy a firearm for the purpose of self defense.
This course now includes the FBI Model with dry fire and airsoft weapons.

This Combat Pistol Training includes additional drills, and live fire malfunction clearance drills. We will begin with a review of the topics and fundamentals of marksmanship and move into more advanced drills.  You will continue to improve your pistol handling skills while reinforcing the fundamentals of marksmanship. Timed drills will help you learn the balance between speed and accuracy.

At the end of the day, the simple truth is the individual who prevails in armed conflict is the one who can most quickly adapt to the rapidly unfolding situation before them.

This training is a “must have” for armed security (G License – Executive Protection) as well as citizens looking to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their communities.
Tuition – $550.00
This class will fill quickly.

Happy New Year!

ESS Global Corp would like to take a moment and wish all our employees, associates, clients and good friends a happy (and safe) 2022.

Happy New Year! (and Safety Tips)- From ESS Global

New Years Eve Safety Tips ESS Global

And with that thought, and our concentration on safety, here are 5 important tips to keep you safe when celebrating the New Year (or any other party or event for that matter).

Transportation

taxi-238478_640Don’t drink and drive. Unless you’re hosting the party, you’ll most likely be heading to a friend’s home or a venue such as a club or bar to celebrate the end of the year. The Golden Rule. Don’t be afraid to ask to spend the night. A rough night’s sleep on a sofa is far better than a DUI, or worse, a needless accident.
If sleeping away from home isn’t an option, you must plan ahead and assign a designated (and sober) driver. Also, write down the numbers of a few local cab companies and keep that information on you all night. Alternatively, Uber and Lyft will likely have surge pricing on New Year’s Eve, but  they are well worth it to get yourself (and your loved ones) home safely.

  • The later it gets in the evening, the higher incidence of drunk driving related accidents.
  • If you do elect to drive home, let someone know you are heading home, and keep them posted when you arrive home safely.
  • Never drink and drive.
  • If in doubt about your own ability to drive, have a sober friend take you home, or take other safe means of transportation home (Taxi, Uber, Lyft).
  • Drive extra carefully when heading home and leave extra space between you and other cars just to be safe.

There’s simply no excuse for drinking and getting behind the wheel, so make sure you’ve got a plan in place well before the festivities begin.

Keep Your Phone Fully Charged

iphone-410324_1280Stay in contact with family and friends. New Year’s Eve is not the night to ignore phone call and messages either. Nor is it the night to rely on the kindness of total strangers. Alcohol impairs judgement and that goes beyond driving. Be aware of your surroundings. Do not leave drinks unattended. Speaking of drinks, it’s a good night to reacquaint yourself with something called water. Keeps you hydrated.
And bring a cell phone charger.

It’s Good to Have a Plan – It’s Better to Have a Back-Up Plan – Best to be Prepared

happy-new-year-have-a-back-up-plan
Looks like Santa’s Ride Isn’t Ready

The best laid plans can suddenly go awry. Things can take an unexpected turn. Have a back-up plan just in case. And if you do not feel safe, for any reason, leave. If something feels off or unsafe, leave. What if someone in your group wants a stranger to drive them home? What if your designated driver has to leave due to an unforeseen emergency? What if you get separated from your group? There is safety in numbers. Try your best not to get separated. And have a back-up plan.

Safety in Numbers

google-mapsEverything is better with friends anyway, so make sure you suddenly don’t find yourself alone on New Year’s Eve, or more likely New Year’s Day. A good portion of the population will be drinking, and therefore the streets are inherently more dangerous. Traveling in a group can help ensure that nothing bad happens to you or those you care about. In addition, always know where you’re going. Some parties, especially on New Year’s Eve, tend to “drift” to another location. Know where you are and where you are going. Use a map application on your smartphone or plan your night ahead of time to ensure that you’re spending the least amount of time possible walking outside. Above all, go with your gut. If a home or a street or a venue or a bar, or anything else feels unsafe, leave.

Public Events

audience-1867983_640When attending public events, beware of your surroundings at all times. This is extremely important since you may be drinking around people you don’t know, who are drinking as much or even more than you, in a place you may have never been to. And keep a sharp eye on your drink! Also, when at public events make sure you have a fully charged cell phone. Be prepared!
Lastly, a word about fireworks. Tonight, let the experts do that. We are all adults. Getting drunk and watching professional fireworks is OK.  Getting drunk and having something explode in your hand or face, is not OK. And Firearms?  Please don’t be the idiot who is arrested for firing a weapon into the air.

Have a Happy And Safe New Year!

Thanksgiving Trips and Social Media

We’ve seen the posts of the selfie in the car on the way to NY to see your parents. But did you know 78% of thieves use trips and social media?

It’s bad enough that we STILL have to deal with covid, why add a ransacked home to the list?

thanksgiving trips and social media

Thanksgiving Trips and Social Media

Don’t believe that social media and home break-ins are related?
Google “home break-ins from Facebook posts” and you’ll get over 13 million search results. TV reports, newspaper reports, personal blogs…it’s a long list.
Because it happens all too frequently.

Thanksgiving Trips and Social Media

A recent segment on CNN discusses the risks that you may be taking while updating your Facebook status. You don’t know who is looking at your private information because it’s truly not private – it’s public. They told a story about a woman who found this out the hard way after she posted a simple status message on Facebook that she was going to see a band with her fiancé. It only took the burglars calling the venue to find out what time the show was to let them know when they could break into her home. The burglars showed up 35 minutes after she left for the concert.
thanksgiving trips ans social mediaYou’ve seen the post on Facebook: A friend at the airport, pictures of the departure board. She posts a selfie, all excited for a family reunion over the holidays with the text, “Heading off for Thanksgiving! See you next week!”
What’s wrong with that picture?
Did she really want anyone to know her house would be empty for the next 5 days?
There’s nothing wrong with keeping in touch with your family and friends on social media. But if you’re not careful, the wrong people could be looking at your check-ins, status updates, tweets and other social media posts.
Those “wrong people” would be the burglars, thieves, stalkers and other criminals. According to one recent survey, more than 75 percent of convicted burglars admitted that they use social media posts combined with Google street view to target victims.

Thanksgiving Trips and Social Media

Don’t be a victim! – 5 Ways to be more careful

Limit Revealing Posts

facebookWe get it. You are having a blast and you want the world to know it, but you will settle for your friends and family and post away on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and more…. but here at ESS Global, we strongly suggest against sharing your activity outside your home in real time.
Remember the days when we used cameras, then came home and waited days for the pictures to be developed at the drugstore? It’s a bit easier now, but wait until you are home to share your event or vacation stories on social media.
Or at least get a house sitter.

Location Sharing Service and Applications

girl-926622_1280If you use mobile apps that include location sharing features, such as Facebook, get to know the privacy features and use them. Make sure your phone isn’t syncing up with other social networks that aren’t as private. If they do, you might be broadcasting your location to people you don’t even know.
One example of this is when you post a picture to Instagram, your location data is shared with Facebook. Get the picture?
To be even safer, turn off your GPS when you don’t need it. And that includes inside your home.

Pictures

Taking a picture of the nice new car you bought? With your home sitting right behind it? Great. Now take a pic of the house clearly. Post it on Facebook…then hover over it and right click and “search google for this image”.
And you will never ever post a picture of your house again. It’s that easy. That’s why thieves love street view.
And again…when you are away from home, try to resist the urge to post that picture of the Grand Canyon. Or the Thanksgiving turkey at your mom’s house.

Which Leads us to Reverse Image Search

google-logo-newSo perhaps you have decided a blog is a better way to go. You can use a different name and have some anonymity. But maybe you post the same image in a different post on Twitter….or Facebook.
Now…if I fall across your blog aptly named Superstar, and right click that image to do a “Search Google for this image”, BOOM! I see Google found that very same image on your Facebook page. Now I know your username!
From there they have your real name or can easily piece together your real name and then all they have to do is pop it into a people-search directory to come up with your home address.
Done.

A Friend of a Friend of a….

trips and social mediaEven if your profiles are private, you still need to be careful about what you post. Not every person on your friends list is someone you can necessarily trust, especially if you “friend” people who you don’t know in real life.
Also, depending on your settings, friends of friends of friends might be able to see your post when they have liked or commented on it.
So friend A likes or comments on your post. Now, A’s friends B – Z see that in their feed…and from there it can multiply. So your post can be seen by virtually everyone and anyone.
So even if your settings are private, watch what you post.
According to the Pew Research Center, 92% of those surveyed post their full, real name on social media. Eighty-two percent post their birthday and 71% post the name of the city they live in. Individually, these pieces of information aren’t terribly harmful. However, when a thief knows your name, birthday and city of residence it’s not that hard at all to get your address.
We understand that most people want to use their full name on their social media profiles, even though that’s not the absolute safest course of action.
But at the very least you shouldn’t post your birthday or your location.

Bonus – Hashtags

Thieves love hashtags. Like #VacationTime or #Vacation. They target these hashtags to discover when people are away from home.

You wouldn’t put a sign out in front of your home saying “Away For a Week”, why would you do that digitally?

There’s no need to totally abandon your social media profiles. Just be careful and be aware of what you’re posting. Done correctly, your social media profiles can send a clear message:
#NoToThieves.

Have a Happy and SAFE Thanksgiving!
